Order of Merit
|
The Order of Merit (abbrev. OM, formally named the Most Distinguished Order of Merit) is one of the five Manticoran orders of chivalry. It is granted to military and civilian personnel for distinguished service. In the Honorverse canon, known recipients include Lady Dame Honor Harrington[1] and Dame Stephanie Harrington.
TRMN Information
This order is awarded for distinguished service in the armed forces, but also for service to science, art, literature or the promotion of culture. The Monarch, through the First Lord of the Admiralty, accepts members into the order based on the advice of the Senior Officers. Those awarded this order are permitted to use the prefix ‘Sir’ or ‘Dame’ and the post nominal letters of ‘OM’. This order comes in only one class, Knight, and is not hereditary.[2]
