Staff Sergeant

Staff Sergeant (abbrev: SSGT) is an enlisted paygrade within the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps and the Royal Manticoran Army. It holds the equivalent military paygrade of E-6 within The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. and is the highest junior non-commissioned officer rank. A soldier who has received their third chevron is generally referred to as "Sergeant."

Honorverse

In peacetime, a staff sergeant will have served 84 months in the service, and ten months Time in Grade. In both the army and the marines, there is also a competitive exam to determine qualification for NCO rank. The Royal Manticoran Army uniform is green with yellow stripes bordered by blue. The Royal Manticoran Marine Corps is black with yellow stripes bordered by green.

TRMN

If the soldier has completed their Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Exam, with eleven months Time in Grade, they are appointed to this rank.
