High Admiral is a unique position within the Grayson Space Navy. Holders are elevated to the military paygrade of F-6, Admiral of the Fleet. The High Admiral is the component head of the Grayson Space Navy.

The High Admiral may be referred to as "High Admiral", "Admiral of the Fleet", or "Admiral."

Honorverse

In peacetime, the High Admiral would have served as an Admiral, approved by the Conclave of Steadholders, and confirmed by the Navy Minister and the Protector.[1] The individual holding the position of High Admiral serves as the commander of all Grayson Naval forces and as such, there is only ever one High Admiral at any given time.

History of TRMN High Admirals

In 2008 Kit Warren was appointed as the first High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy, serving the GSN for four years before stepping down for personal reasons in 2012. For her service she was awarded the inaugural peerage for the GSN, being created Steadholder Blackbird. Unfortunately, her peerage lost its status as the Senior Steading when it was placed in abeyance. The title remains in that status as of September 2022.

Then CDR Nicholas Hurst was appointed as the second High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy in 2012. He focused his tenure on working to find ways to increase participation within the correspondence chapters. He developed a computer-processed baseball league, where he had ships playing against each other, and encouraged the use of online games as qualifiers for marksmanship awards, a system still in use. Unfortunately, he too was obliged to step down for personal reasons in 2014 but continued to maintain the Baseball League. Later he would go on to build the Grayson meeting chapters in the United States.

The third High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy was Thomas Siadak, being appointed to the position in 2014. He presided over a period of growth for the GSN, working with BuNine and then CAPT Zachary White to finalize the Grayson Space Navy Uniform Manual. Additionally, he worked to expand the fleet; greatly expanding the number of chapters in the GSN and championing the switch from "correspondence" and "meeting" chapters to all chapters being treated equally in the organization. His expansion program had resulted in GSN chapters being stood up in the AOR of other fleets, and as such 4th Fleet was reorganized from its original composition of the Grayson Space Navy catch-all, to focus on the UK and Erie. As a result, his tenure saw the decoupling of the Office of the High Admiral from that of the 4th Fleet, and the appointment of the first 4th Fleet Commander. Up until this point, the High Admiral was also the 4th Fleet Commander. For his efforts, he was created Steadholder Henesy in 2017.

In January 2018, Steadholder Henesy retired and the incumbent Chief of Naval Operations, David Melsome, Steadholder Maelstromm, was appointed as the fourth High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy. High Admiral Maelstromm used his tenure to increase participation within the GSN and founded the Blue Coconut Bar, a virtual hang-out for GSN personnel. Health complications unfortunately shortened his tenure, and he stepped down in May of 2018, the shortest tenure as High Admiral in organizational history.

Then CAPT Angela Sanders was appointed the fifth High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy that same month, completing an in-person Change of Command at the last HonorCon. Her tenure saw the creation of the first Deputy High Admiral. After serving for a little over two years, High Admiral Sanders was asked to resign, and the Royal Council accepted her resignation on 3 December 2020.

Then Deputy High Admiral James Jones was appointed as the sixth High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy the same day.

On 21 December 2022, the-Deputy High Admiral Benyamin Loyola was appointed High Admiral.[5]
