Warrant Officer 1st Class (abbrev: WO1) is a warrant paygrade within the Royal Manticoran Navy, the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps, and the Royal Manticoran Army. In the Grayson Space Navy, they are referred to as a "Chief Warrant Officer" (abbrev: CWO) ( It holds the equivalent military paygrade of W-2 within The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. and has achieved a wealth of technical and leadership experience, allowing them to work closely with, and fully understand, the requirements of enlisted technicians in their charge. A warrant officer is referred to by their rank, also by their rate, but by officers is referred to as "Mr" or "Ms". So a Hydroponics Technician who earned their crown would be called "Mr," but also "Hydroponics Officer."

In peacetime, a Warrant Officer 1st Class would have served at least 15 years of enlisted service, and served as a Warrant Officer 2nd Class for 2 years. Since they hold a Monarch's Warrant, they are not commissioned. They would be the equivalent of an Lieutenant (junior grade).[1]
TRMN
If the spacer has completed their Warrant Officer Exam, and served as an Warrant Officer 2nd Class for 9 months Time in Grade, they are promoted to this rank. Frequently, warrant officers are Department Heads on board their ship.[2]
