2nd Lieutenant

Second Lieutenant (abbrev: 2LT) is an officer paygrade within the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps and the Royal Manticoran Army. It holds the equivalent military paygrade of O-1 within The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. and is the lowest commissioned rank. A soldier who has received their first pip is generally referred to as "lieutenant," never "2nd Lieutenant."

Honorverse

In peacetime, a second lieutenant has just graduated from one of the military academies or officer candidate school.

TRMN

If the soldier has completed their Platoon Sergeant Exam, with 6 months Time in Grade, they qualify for this rank. However, they need to be approved for promotion by their commanding officer before rank is awarded.
