HMS Kodiak Max (CA-413) is a Saganami-C-class Heavy Cruiser in Second Fleet under the command of CAPTJG Michael Timko, OG, ME, RMN. Their charter city is Avon, Ohio, but they are part of Cruiser Division 711 (CruDiv 711) which covers the American states of Ohio and Kentucky, which in turn is part of Task Force 22, which covers the majority of the fleet outside of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

History

Kodiak Max was first brought into commission on 30 November 2011 under the command of CAPTJG Michael Larson, by order of BuShips. This ship was part of the original ships that were commissioned in Second Fleet in the Fargo, North Dakota area. It was ValleyCon 37 (21-23 October, 2011), where David Weber was Author Guest of Honor, and HMS Merlin operated a recruiting table. This was the first time that Weber saw TRMN members in action at a convention. Weber's presence recruited sufficient members for a local chapter. The ship eventually upgraded to HMS Leonidas on 16 July 2012.

When Brian Horton founded his chapter up in Marquette, Michigan, they took over the Kodiak Max on 27 September 2012. He ran the ship for the next year and a half, until CAPTJG Horton moved to the Twin Cities to become Tactical Officer on board HMS Valkyrie. Command fell to CAPTJG Justin Dupras on 07 July 2014. He also served for a year and a half before turning over command to CAPTJG Greg Moyle on 16 March 2016. Unfortunately, he never tested up to his rank, and eventually when the Third Space Lord was instructed to crack down on the delinquents, the Kodiak Max lost their CO and XO, and Moyle was demoted to Chief Petty Officer. Unfortunately, with no qualified candidates to replace them, the ship was decommissioned on 30 October 2016.

It didn't stay in the Active Reserves long, as Second Fleet got it recommissioned in Avon, Ohio under the command of CAPTJG Michael Timko on 30 December 2016. Despite the distance, the Kodiak Max has been known to support the fleet's efforts at MarsCon and CONvergence multiple times, serving at MantiCon and HonorCon.
