The Space Warfare Pin is awarded to officers and enlisted personnel of all services who have completed a rigorous set of RMN or RMMC qualifications which qualifies them as an Officer of the Watch or Marine Officer of the Watch.
Historical Background
The TRMN's Space Warfare Pin is modeled roughly on the United States Navy's Surface Warfare insignia. This metal pin is worn by commissioned officers of the USN to indicate that they have achieved certain qualifications, such as officer of the deck, small boat officer, combat information center officer, shipboard engineering, damage control and quality maintenance. It is a requirement for further advancement in line officers.
A similar qualification was introduced in 1978, known as the enlisted surface warfare specialist, and it indicates that the wearer is qualified well above the normal criteria for advancement. Unlike the SWO for officers, the SWS is not required for advancement.
TRMN
The Space Warfare Pin comes in two varieties: a gold one, for officers, and a silver one for enlisted personnel.
Officers
Both RMN and RMMC officers wear the same pin. Although enlisted personnel may complete the academic qualifications for this pin, they may not wear it.
Officers of the RMN who have been awarded the OSWP and who subsequently transfer to the RMMC may continue to wear the OSWP until such time as they achieve the RMMC OSWP qualifications, and vice-versa.

Enlisted
|
Both RMN and RMMC enlisted wear the same pin. Officers may wear the ESWP only provided it was earned and awarded while they were enlisted, and only until they have completed the requirements for the OSWP.
The ESWP is worn plain when first awarded. On being transferred to another unit, a numeral 2 is affixed to the centre of the pin, indicating a second deployment. A third deployment is indicated by a numeral 3; 4 and more deployments display a numeral 4.
Enlisted of the RMN who have been awarded the ESWP and who subsequently transfer to the RMMC may continue to wear the ESWP until such time as they achieve the RMMC ESWP qualifications, and vice-versa.

Recognition
Though most SWPs are automatically noted and recognized by MEDUSA, it is still recommended that personnel track their progress using one of the spreadsheets linked below, or another method of their choosing.
Those who qualify for either SWP are noted automatically by MEDUSA and an email is sent to the Office of the Sixth Space Lord. Official announcements are made monthly, on or around the 4th of each month, for the previous month's qualifiers.
The appropriate SWP will be available for your Ribbon Rack in your MEDUSA Service Record on or around the 4th of the month following the month in which you qualified.
Space Warfare Qualification Badge (GSN)
The equivalent qualification in the Grayson Space Navy (GSN) is the Space Warfare Qualification Badge.[1] In TRMN the requirements are the same, but the insignia is unique to the GSN.
Unlike the Royal Manticoran Navy and Marine Corps variants, the Grayson Space Navy Space Warfare Qualification Badge is silver for both officer and enlisted with subtle design differences distinguishing the two.
Space Warfare Clasp (IAN)
The equivalent qualification in the Imperial Andermani Navy (IAN) is the Space Warfare Clasp. In TRMN the requirements are the same, but the insignia is unique to the IAN.
In a manner that invokes both the Royal Manticoran Navy and Marine Corps, the Imperial Andermani Navy Space Warfare Clasp is awarded in gold for officers and silver for enlisted personnel. However, unlike the RMN and RMMC, the design is identical and only the color of the clasp distinguishes the two awards.
