History
Covington was commissioned on 27 January 2014 under the command of then-CAPT Christopher Fells. The Covington was designed to be a roleplay chapter with members from around the world. The majority of it's membership are spread across the continental United States. The ship is a frequent attendee of Manticon and Honorcon as well as conventions local to its crew.
The ship was decommissioned on 30 November 2016 for failure of the command triad to complete testing. The ship recommissioned on 27 May 2017 under the command of then-CAPT Thomas Bainbridge. After 11 months in the role Captain Bainbridge stood down to join the Astro Control Service and CAPT David Sanders took over.
The Covington was changed to be the meeting chapter for Tampa Bay, FL, and as such Captain (JG) Rick Matheny took command, the ship continues to engage and support members that are based further afield. After this change was made, the ship was reassigned to Third Fleet.
The Covington can have LACs assigned to it to help mentor a ship launching in a new area. The current allocation of LACs to the Covington is listed in its own section below.
