GNS Matthias (DD-28) was a Apostle-class Destroyer in the Active Reserves. Commanded by LCDR Anne Zecca, GSN, Matthias was a correspondence chapter based in Ocala, Florida, and for half a year, it was the only ship in Fourth Fleet.
History
Matthias was first brought into commission on 25 March 2011 under the command of LCDR Anne Zecca, by order of BuShips. This ship was an upgrade of the GNS Barbara Bancroft, which at the time was listed as a Katana-class LAC. Anne Zecca, also serving as Director of Membership Processing, BuPers, launched this ship in Ocala, Florida. This served the first true ship in the Grayson Space Navy, and remained the only ship in the Grayson fleet until the commissioning of GNS Albion (DD-42) on 31 October 2011. The crew of the Matthias continued to serve until 29 April 2014, when it was upgraded to GNS Nathan, and the Matthias put into the Active Reserves.
