HMS Gaheris (DD-482) was a Roland-class Destroyer within Third Fleet. Commanded by Lieutenant Commander Mathew Miller, Gaheris claimed Decatur, GA as her charter city.
History
Commissioned in July of 2013 under the command of Lieutenant Commander Hans Sprenkle, Gaheris was initially assigned to Phenix City, AL., under the umbrella of Third Fleet.[1] Command temporarily shifted to David Weiner in September of 2014,[2] until it returned to Sprenkle in November of that year.[3]. During this period, however, the patrol area shifted to its final location of Decatur, GA.
Command shifted one final time in January of 2016, to LCDR Matthew Miller,[4] with whom it remained until the crew upgraded to HMS Juno (BC-726) in October of that year.[5] At that time, HMS Gaheris was transferred to the Active Reserve and taken out of commission.
