Chief Warrant Officer (abbrev: CWO) is a warrant paygrade within the Royal Manticoran Navy, the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps, and the Royal Manticoran Army. In the Grayson Space Navy, they are referred to as a "Senior Chief Warrant Officer" (abbrev: SCWO) ( It holds the equivalent military paygrade of W-3 within The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. and has achieved a wealth of technical and leadership experience, allowing them to work closely with, and fully understand, the requirements of enlisted technicians in their charge. A warrant officer is referred to by their rank, also by their rate, but by officers is referred to as "Mr" or "Ms". So a Coxswain who earned their crown would be called "Mr," but also "Chief," or "Boat Bay Officer."

TRMN

If the spacer has completed their Chief Warrant Officer Exam, and served as an Warrant Officer 1st Class for 11 months Time in Grade, they are promoted to this rank. Frequently, warrant officers are Department Heads on board their ship.[2]
