This Order is reserved for civilian personnel in government service. The Monarch, through the First Lord of the Admiralty, accepts members into the Order based on the advice of senior staff. This Order is awarded for various levels of achievement and merit in the civil service of the Star Kingdom. There are several awardable classes, with the top four entitled to the prefix “Sir” or “Dame”. The eight awardable classes with post-nominal letters are Knight Grand Cross (GCR), Knight Commander (KDR), Knight Companion (KCR), Knight (KR), Companion (CR), Officer (OR) Member (MR) and Medal (RM).
