The Sphinx Forestry Commission (abbrev. SFC) is one of the three uniformed civilian branches of The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN). The SFC is the component devoted to youth members, and adult SFC members provide leadership for the youth members.
The head of the SFC is the Commissioner, who is a member of the Royal Council.
Cadet Ranger ranks
In TRMN, a Youth Member is defined as any member 17 or younger. All Youth Members are automatically placed in the Sphinx Forestry Commission in one of four Cadet Ranger Ranks based on age:[1]
- Cadet Ranger 1: 5 to 9 years
- Cadet Ranger 2: 9 to 13 years
- Cadet Ranger 3: 13 to 16 years
- Senior Cadet Ranger: 16 to 18 years
At 16 years of age, the Youth member has an option to either remain with the Sphinx Forestry Commission as a Senior Cadet Ranger, or transfer to Saganami Island Academy as a Midshipman/Midshipwoman.
Honorverse
In the Honorverse canon, the Sphinx Forestry Commission is the Manticoran agency responsible for overseeing and protecting the natural flora and fauna of the planet Sphinx, especially treecats.
Sphinx Forestry Service

In canon the organization was called the Sphinx Forestry Service (abbrev. SFS) in its early days before human contact with treecats. TRMN uses the term SFS to refer to the Academy for the SFC, adults who administer the online exams available to youth members.
