MEMORANDUM FOR All Officers and Enlisted of the Grayson Space Navy
FROM: AotF Gilwell, GSN
Servants of the Sword:
One of the things that I prioritized when I took office was a review of the Grayson Space Navy’s recognition programs and to explore ways they could be improved upon. For those unaware, one of my longest-running positions in the organization was on the staff of the Bureau of Ships. While serving there, something that had always bothered me was that the Chapter List of Honor Citation, despite being a shared award that could be worn by any member regardless of component branch, could only be earned by a Royal Manticoran Navy chapter. After consultation with my staff, and with the Third Space Lord, I have devised a remedy.
Therefore, the Protector’s Own, as the Grayson Space Navy individual honor society, is hereby dissolved and shall be reconstituted as a chapter honor society known as the Protector’s Own Squadron.
Concurrent with the new chapter honor society, and after consulting with my staff and Bureau Nine, the Grayson Space Navy will launch a new individual honor society aboard the historic cruiser GNS Covington (C3).
All personnel from the legacy Protector’s Own are automatically transferred to GNS Covington (C3). The Selection Committee has chosen not to induct any new crew members this year, and I will announce the appointment of her new Commanding Officer in a subsequent Protector’s Order.
I have attached the governing documents for these two honor societies: Protector’s Policy Directive 1001 and 1002. Please take a moment to read those as they contain all the information regarding eligibility, nomination, and selection to both honor societies, as well as some important changes to uniform wear. As always, if there are any questions please do not hesitate to ask!
I am excited to finally bring this initiative online after many months of planning and preparation, and I look forward to hopefully welcoming the first chapter(s) into the Protector’s Own Squadron in December of 2024!
The above directive, Protector’s Order 2312-02, is effective on this date, 21 December 2023.
In Service to the Sword,
ZACHARY H. WHITE
Admiral of the Fleet, GSN
High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy
