Naval Directive 15JA-01 was issued 19 January 2015 under the authority of the First Space Lord. This order reorganizes the Steward rating as being under the Logistics Department.

As of the date of this Order, by my hand, and by the authority of the Sovereign, Queen of Manticore Elizabeth III, it is my duty to elucidate the placement of the Steward rating in the Table of Organization of her Majesty’s Ships. While the most recognizable Steward aboard the ship, is the Commanding Officer’s Steward, the rating as a whole serves the dietary needs of more than just the Commanding Officer and many more hard working Stewards serve aboard the ship’s of our Navy. Thus a clarification of which department that rating serves in, which is the Logistics Department.
