Re: HOD 002-22: Civil Awards Ceremony held January 2022

The Order of the Golden Lion (abbrev. OGL, formally named the Most Eminent Order of the Golden Lion) is a Manticoran order of chivalry.

This order is reserved for civilian personnel in government service. The Monarch, through the First Lord of the Admiralty, accepts members into the Order based on the advice of senior staff.

This Order is awarded for various levels of achievement and merit in the civil service of the Star Kingdom. There are eight awardable classes, with the top four entitled to the prefix “Sir” or “Dame”.

The classes, with their post-nominal letters:

  • Knight Grand Cross (GCGL)
  • Knight Commander (KDGL)
  • Knight Companion (KCGL)
  • Knight (KGL)
  • Companion (CGL)
  • Officer (OGL)
  • Member (MGL)
  • Medal (GLM)

The highest class, Knight Grand Commander (GDGL) is reserved for the Monarch and therefore not awarded.

The Order is not hereditary, meaning that the induction of any member into this order is valid only for the lifetime of that member.

For each subsequent award, the member moves up one class. An individual may hold only one class of the order at any time.

Order of the Golden Lion (OGL), Member #24

Is awarded to Ms Debi Dreese-Hoch, (DIP) RMN-6247-20, Consulate - Specter

Billet: Embassy Staff, CIVIL Diplomatic Office of the Home Secretary - Executive Assistant

Nomination

Communications is the life blood of any organization - or so the saying goes and as the Home Office grows - so do its lines of communications and of necessity so do face to face meetings (even if they are virtual).

Ms Dreese-Hoch joined the Home Office as a senior member of staff and from the outset has impressed everyone she comes into contact with as being extremely courteous and an extraordinarily professional administrator. Her role involves arranging high level meetings for both the Home Secretary and Deputy Home Secretary as they request.

Managing the diaries of two busy people is not easy, and yet we are both managed with supreme aplomb and effective gentleness. Ms Dreese-Hoch has from the outset set an excellent standard and gives generously of her time. In order to ensure I stay on track we have a regular Friday meeting… 6am UK time for me and midnight for Ms Dreese-Hoch.

Thank you for all your hard work. You are a wonderful inspiration to those around you.
