Order Text

To: All Officers and Enlisted in the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps
From: Marshal of the Corps Sean Niemeyer, Commandant of the RMMC
Re: Application of AO 1707-01 to the RMMC (Corps Directive 02-1707)

Basic Admiralty Order 1707-01 changes the promotion and time in grade policies that are used for promotion in the Royal Manticoran Navy, The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. This includes three different promotion paths: Service, Staff, and Line. This Corps Directive clarifies, details, and codifies how AO 1707-01 will apply to the RMMC.

Promotion Paths Line As stated in AO 1707-01 members following this path are unrestricted in which positions they may hold. That is, they may fill any role within the organization. However, there are positions within the RMMC that must be filled by a member who is following the Line path. All members of the RMMC, officer and enlisted, who hold a command position must follow this path. This includes section/squad leaders, platoon/company/battalion/regimental commanders, their executive officers, and senior non-commissioned officer. The following positions must also follow this path:

  1. The Marshal of the Corps (Commandant), COMFORCECOM, and the Sergeant Major of the Corps
  2. London Point commanding officer, executive officer, and sergeant major
  3. RMMC Training Command commanding officer, executive officer, and sergeant major

Staff As stated in AO 1707-01 members following this path do not wish to fill leadership positions within the organization, but instead, wish to help by serving in staff roles. Members who follow this line may fill any staff billet in any RMMC echelon or the RMMC Training Command. Members following this promotion path may not serve in any position that requires a member following the Line path.

Service As stated in AO 1707-01 members following this path have no desire or plan to serve at any level above the chapter. These members may hold staff billets within their own MARDET. The only exception is staff billets associated with multi-ship regiments. Members following the service path may not hold billets above the MARDET level or any position listed in the Line promotion path as outlined above.

The above effective 01-AUG-17.

In Honour of the Queen!
