BuShips Directive 1701-02 was issued 02 January 2017 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive announces new positions and vacancies in the Bureau of Ships.

Ladies and Gentleman of the Grand Alliance:
By my authority as Deputy Third Space Lord, I am pleased to announce that BuShips is hiring! We have a slightly different structure than that of last year, so please check out all the positions to see if you would be interested in something.
Working with BuShips has been both informational, and rewarding. You get to be directly involved with the creation of new chapters, and chapter upgrades. During this process, you will get to be the first steps for new ship commanders as they start their journeys guiding members and growing TRMN. We have a great system in place, some new openings, and we need motivated individuals to fill them.
The open positions are as follows:
Bureau Command Staff
Chief of Staff (CoS)
Minimum rank of O-6(B). This role functions as the executive officer to the 3sl and D3sl. Chiefly responsible for the hiring of all subordinate Staff for the Bureau. Creates and maintains all internal communication avenues. Serves as the initial point of contact for the Bureau Command. Manages the flow of information into the Third Space Lord's office from subordinate Staff. Ensures and interprets all policies for the benefit of subordinate Staff when necessary. Acts as a Senior Advisor and reports directly to the Third Space Lord.
Construction and Refit Command
Commanding Officer, Construction and Refit Command
(COCRC) Minimum rank O-6(A) Responsible for overall ship development, works as the go-to from all of shipbuilding to the CoS. Fills in responsibilities from subordinate directors in the instance they are not filled/on leave. Is permitted to hire staff for the CRC, if necessary and approved/communicated with/by the CoS. Reports directly to the Chief of Staff.
Director of the Office of RMN Shipbuilding
Minimum rank of O-5. Acts as initial contact for all prospective RMN hyper-capable vessels. Responsible for facilitating and cultivating the commissioning or recommissioning of all hyper-capable vessels within the Royal Manticoran Navy. Coordinates with the Office of Development for the training requirements of prospective command triads and officers prior to commissioning. Reports to the COCRC. Is permitted to hire staff, if necessary and approved by the CoS.
Director of the Office of Allied Shipbuilding
Minimum rank of O-5. Acts as initial contact for all prospective Allied hyper-capable vessels. Responsible for facilitating and cultivating the commissioning or recommissioning of all hyper-capable vessels within the Grayson Space Navy, the Imperial Andermani Navy, and the Republic of Haven Navy. Coordinates with the Office of Development for the training requirements of prospective command triads and officers prior to commissioning. Reports to the COCRC. Is permitted to hire staff, if necessary and approved by the CoS.
Administration Command
Commanding Officer, Administration Command (COAdmin)
Minimum rank of O-6(A). The COAdmin is ultimately responsible for the drafting of all BuShips manuals and documents intended for the public consumption of our members and private use of Bureau staff. In addition, all records generated by Operations and Development are maintained as archives under the authority of this office. He or she is responsible for maintaining all avenues of communication with the public, most notably social media (Facebook, etc.) and acts as BuShips Liaison to BuPlan to ensure awareness of new chapters planning and recruitment assistance. Permitted to lead hiring of the following subordinate staff in conjunction and with approval of the Chief of Staff. Reports directly to the Chief of Staff.
Director of the Office of Development
Minimum rank of O-4. Responsible for the development of a unit, from its pre-commissioning or "pinnace" status to commissioning and beyond. Maintaining a standard for billeting across all ships for parity and fairness, assisting Command Triads in identifying key billets within their units for deployment or development of personnel. Creating and deploying any development programs designed to assist potential CO/XO/Bosun officeholders in seeing to their duties in order to ensure their longevity within TRMN. Reports to COAdmin
Director of the Office of Publishing
Minimum rank of O-4. Responsible for the creation and publication of all BuShips manuals and documents intended for the public consumption of our members. Maintains all avenues of interactive communication with the public, most notably social media (Facebook, etc.) Ensures that all communiques and publications fall within parameters of BuComm Policy. Reports to COAdmin
Director of the Office of Records
No Minimum Rank. Responsible for archiving announcements and reports. Maintains the BuShips Registry to ensure all information is accurate and up to date. Assists Shipbuilding Offices for research requests and curating data on their behalf. Reports to COAdmin
Director of the Mentorship Program
Minimum rank of O-4. Pairs new chapter commanders with experienced chapter commanders as to allow them to draw from the experience. Monitors progress and re-assigns mentors if necessary. Reports to COAdmin
Qualifications and Requirements
In adherence to Admiralty Order 1612-01, applicants to these positions must already be tested up to the position they will be breveted/promoted to. Additionally, IAW Admiralty Order 1602-02, the acceptance of this position must not put them over the “two-hat” rule.
Applicants must agree to serve the positions they apply/are selected for for a period of no less than 6 months. Additionally IAW Naval Directive 17JA-01, if a member receives a brevet promotion and have not completed at least a year in the position, they shall be reverted to their former permanent rank OR a rank higher with TIG (while they were working for BuShips) applied.
All applicants should possess a modicum of desired skills, including the capability to deal with high-pressure situations, project management, communication (internal and external), teamwork, and understanding the high demands made upon them to execute these roles. While we are not requiring all applicants to have passed technical specialty exams pertinent to the role, it is strongly encouraged.
When choosing our appointments, we will consider skills and experience (both real-world and TRMN) pertaining to the task at hand. That way, we can ensure that the tasks are getting completed with ease, and hopefully nobody will feel overwhelmed.
These positions are open to all members under the RMN and her allied navies, civilians, marines, soldiers, etc., however we may require that you transfer to RMN to fill certain positions.
