BuShips Directive 1706-01 was issued 10 June 2017 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive re-commissions HMS Roland.

Attention to Orders:
Effective as of 0001 Hours on 10 June 2017, it is my pleasure and privilege to announce the recommissioning of HMS Roland (DD-476). This is a Roland class Destroyer and is assigned to the Second Fleet (Toledo, Ohio, USA).
The following personnel are hereby transferred and permanently assigned to HMS Roland (DD-476):
- LCDR Jeffry M. Ellis (assigned as CO)
- S1C Paul Sparks (assigned as XO)
- S2C Vicky Pontious (assigned as Bosun)
- CPO Kate Shankie
- PO3 Steve Pontious
- S2C Sebastian Payne
- S3C Ron Anderson
- S3C Richard Sensale
- S3C Robert Lucius, GSN
- S3C Tanya Ellis
The following brevets are hereby authorized:
- Paul Sparks to LIEUTENANT SG, RMN
- Vicky Pontious to CHIEF PETTY OFFICER, RMN
Subsequent to this recommissioning, HMLAC Caleb shall be transferred to the Active Fleet Reserves, following inspection and any repairs deemed necessary. This vessel shall be made available for recommissioning at a later date.
