GNSS Katherine Mayhew (SS-02) is a Space Station in Fourth Fleet. Commanded by HADM James Jones, GSN, Katherine Mayhew is the holding chapter for the Grayson Space Navy. Any crew member that signs up without selecting a chapter is placed here. In addition some crew choose this chapter, for example if there are no chapters nearby. In recent years the station has been formally commanded by the sitting High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy. It has a forum section here. It has a facebook group here.
History
This section is currently incomplete
Katherine Mayhew has been the holding chapter of the GSN since the early days of that branch of TRMN existing. The earliest Commanding Officer we have formal record of is then-CDRE Penny Horwitz, however her appointment didn't seem to be a commissioning so we're unsure who was appointed before that.
After HADM Tom Siadak was appointed, there started a tradition that the current High Admiral was the formal Commanding Officer of the Katherine Mayhew, appointing an XO with more day to day powers. This tradition was followed with the appointment of the High Admiral David Melsome, and followed with the appointment of High Admiral Angela Sanders.
In a similar tradition, the SMCPON for the GSN stands as ship's Bosun for the Katherine Mayhew unless the Commanding Officer assigns a local one.
