Lord Chancellor
The Lord Chancellor is the legal advisor of The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN).
Definition
Per Admiralty Order 2307-10:
The Lord Chancellor is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors, reports to the Board, and serves as TRMN’s legal advisor. The Lord Chancellor must be a licensed attorney. If a member if the one of the military themed branches, upon appointment they will be promoted to their branch’s F-4 equivalent and then placed on the retired list for the duration of their service in the position. If a Civilian, they will be appointed to C-22 rank.
The current Lord Chancellor is Sir Matthew Parker, Duke of Camera Stellata, who previously served as Judge Advocate General until that position was redesignated Lord Chancellor.
Judge Advocate General
The Office of the Lord Chancellor was established in 2023, with Admiralty Order 2307-10. Before that, the legal advisor of TRMN was designated the Judge Advocate General (JAG), who reported to the First Lord of the Admiralty:
• Judge Advocate General–Usually a captain of the list or higher. Responsible for legal affairs within TRMN, training and managing ombudsmen, recommendations for flag officer promotion boards, and is legal advisor for TRMN, Inc. As such, the JAG must be a qualified attorney. This office also oversees the JAG-ombudsman program which is set up to assist chapters with understanding regulations and admiralty orders within the organization.[1]
The JAG is also directed to develop legalman education at Saganami Island Naval Academy.[2]
