Order Text

To: All Officers and Enlisted in the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps
From: Marshal of the Corps Sean Niemeyer, Commandant of the RMMC
Re: Colonel of the Marines (Corps Directive 01-1703)

The RMMC is a unique part of The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association in that none of its MARDETs, aside from London Point, truly stand alone. MARDETs are attached to various ships within the organization and act much like a chapter within a chapter. It is a unique relationship that could not work without the support of members of the Royal Manticoran Navy. As Marshal of the Corps, I would like to acknowledge those members of the Navy, enlisted or officer, that have gone above and beyond to help foster this relationship.

Therefore, as of the date of this Order, by my hand, and by the authority of the Sovereign, Queen of Manticore Elizabeth III, I hereby establish the honorific, Colonel of the Marines.

General:

The honorific Colonel of the Marines is a way for the Marshal of the Corps to personally recognize a member of the Royal Manticoran Navy for their direct contributions to the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps. This honorific does not bestow an actual rank or billet and is only awarded once per year. A member that has been bestowed the honorific Colonel of the Marines may refer to themselves as such. They may also use the honorific in any signatures that they may regularly use provided that it be listed last after all other post-nomials, billets, and titles.

Tenure:

A member that has been awarded the honorific Colonel of the Marines may use the honorific for the period between tRMN’s annual meetings, so long as they remain a member in good standing. At the end of the prescribed period the member must relinquish the title.

Eligibility:

All Enlisted and Officer members of the Royal Manticoran Navy that are current and in good standing.

Nominations:

Nominations are to be made by either enlisted or officer RMMC personnel only. All nominations should include:

1) Name, rank, and billet of the nominator 2) Name, rank, and billet of the nominee 3) A detailed narrative as to why the honorific should be awarded to the nominee. Be sure to explain in detail the nominee’s direct contributions to the RMMC. Direct contributions can include monetary or material support to a MARDET, helping organize various local RMMC activities, help RMMC recruiting efforts, etc… that go above and beyond what is normally expected of a member. Please note that while monetary support is considered a direct contribution, it cannot be used as the only basis for consideration.

Any nominations that do not contain a detailed narrative will not be considered. All nominations must be received by the Marshal of the Corps, or his designee, according to a schedule to be determined at a later date to allow for presentation at tRMN’s annual meeting.

The above effective 13-MAR-17.

In Honour of the Queen!
