Re: | Liaisons to the Bureau of Supply - (Supply Directive 1809-29) |
This order outlines the role and responsibilities of the Liaisons to the Bureau of Supply.
The purpose of the Liaisons is to represent the needs wishes and wants of their service within the structure of BuSup. This helps us take a broader view of the whole organisation’s needs and reduces the risk of being too centered on one branch’s needs.
The aim is to have one representative from each non RMN branch (e.g. RMMC, GSN, IAN etc). The role takes a single hat and so any applicant to the liaison role should have the space to take this on, or be willing to give up other roles to free up space. There is no minimum rank requirement for the role, but the person is expected to be, and remain, a member of the branch they represent.
We welcome recommendations from branch heads and their staff of suitable candidates, however it is important to know that liaisons are appointed by, and serve at the pleasure of the Seventh Space Lord.
The role has several main duties which are outlined below, in each instance these would be focused on their particular branch, but as with all our staff some overlap is expected and required due to the nature of our work.
1. The liaison represents the voice of members of their branch in our discussions. This helps us keep all branches in mind when we make decision.
2. The liaison represents the Bureau of Supply to the membership of their branch, this often means posting in the relevant forum/facebook groups and getting ideas about items needed and swag items wanted, so we can ensure our spend is used in the best way.
3. In addition they serve as a member of our staff like anyone else in the team. This means we can give them projects, research ideas, instruction to post or gather information on our behalf and so on. This often is naturally branch focused but can be broader as well.
Our wiki page is kept up to date with the current staff list including our current liaisons. If there is no liaison for your branch and you are interested in representing them please contact us on staff@busup.trmn.org
