BuShips Directive 1909-01 was issued on 4 September 2019 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive recommissions HMS Samurai.

Attention to Orders:
Effective as of 0001 Hours on 04 September 2019, it is my pleasure and privilege to announce the re-commissioning of HMS Samurai (CL-356). This is a Valiant-class Light Cruiser and is assigned to the Second Fleet.
The following personnel are hereby transferred and permanently assigned to HMS Samurai (CL-356):
- LTSG Jeff Smith (assigned as CO)
- CPO Stephen Miller (assigned as XO)
- S3C Greg Waddell (assigned as Bosun)
- S1C Jerome Udongo
- S1C Jason Greene
- S2C Randy Smith
- S3C Stephen Beals
- S3C Gabriel Cornelius
- S3C Seth Cornelius
- S3C Matthew Barkow
- S3C Brandon Berryhill
- S3C John Gerschoffer
- S3C William Cornelius Jr.
- S3C Jericho Cornelius
- PVT Richard Krouser
- PVT Steven Thompson
The following civilians are hereby transferred and permanently assigned to HMS Samurai, (CL-356):
- C-1 Gordon Snyder
Based upon the requirements of the service the following brevets are approved:
- Jeff Smith to COMMANDER, RMN
- Stephen Miller to LIEUTENANT COMMANDER, RMN
- Greg Waddell to CHIEF PETTY OFFICER, RMN
Subsequent to this commissioning, HLMAC Faraway Quest (LAC-031) shall be transferred to the Active Fleet Reserves, following inspection and any repairs deemed necessary. This vessel shall be made available for recommissioning at a later date.
