Re: Army Chapter Composition (Army Directive 2110-01)

In order to better serve our membership, this Army Directive shall lay out the standing policy for all Royal Manticoran Army (RMA) Chapters in regard to personnel and Chapter make-up.

UNIT FORMATION, MAKE-UP & COMMAND

Henceforth, RMA Chapters shall be defined as follows: The Chapter’s Command Staff must consist entirely of RMA personnel. The Chapter, regardless of size, may consist of any combination of personnel from other Divisions within the TRMN provided that all Chapter personnel must have been included in the vote to designate the Chapter a “Joint Operating Base” in accordance with “The Ratio Rule” detailed below.
The “Chapter” element of the Royal Manticoran Army is the main tactical unit of the RMA, ranging from small fireteams to combat Regiments. Division, Corp, and Field Army are multiply chapter units formed into a larger echelon for command and control. Field Army is the equivalent of the numbered Fleets of the TRMN. The Air Force also called Atmospheric forces use the same number of members but as the individual unit gets larger the unit names change to reflect Air Units. See Below.

UNIT NOMENCLATURE & LEADERSHIP[1]

The smallest unit is called: *Quad or fireteam 2-4 members led by a Corporal (Army & Airforce)

  • Section 5-7 members led by a Sergeant (Army & Airforce)
  • Platoon (ARMY) or Flight (Air) 8-10 members led by a 2nd or 1st Lieutenant
  • Company (ARMY) or Squadron (Air) 11-13 members led by a 1st Lieutenant or Captain
  • Battalion (ARMY) or Group (Air) 14-16 members led by a Major or Lieutenant Colonel
  • Regiment (ARMY) or Wing (Air) 17+ members led by a Colonel
  • Division 2 or more Regiments led by Brigadier General (ARMY & Airforce)
  • Corp 2 or more Divisions led by Lieutenant General (ARMY & Airforce)
  • Field Army 2 or more Corps led by a Major General (ARMY & Airforce)
  • Theater Command is the units of a whole Country or Countries assigned to that command. Led by a General (ARMY & Airforce)

HOME GUARD UNITS[2]

Home Guard units follow the same basic organizational structure as the rest of the RMA, though for purposes of the “Ratio Rule” (see below) both RMA Soldiers and Civilians count as RMA personnel, as the Home Guard represents the Citizen Soldiers of the Star Kingdom. Home Guard units are each ceremonially commanded by a peer, and that peer always appoints one officer to command the Home Guard unit.

THE “RATIO” RULE

If, at any time, the Chapter should contain less RMA personnel than any other Service/Division assigned to the Chapter, then the Chapter’s membership shall be required to vote on the status of the Chapter as a whole. A vote of 2/3rds majority in favor of remaining an RMA Chapter shall be required to remain an RMA Chapter and append the designation of “Joint Operating Base” (JOB) to their Chapter nomenclature. Failure to achieve a 2/3rds majority will require the dissolution of the Chapter as an RMA unit and require all members to reform into their separate divisional entities as per standing directives appropriate to their respective memberships. No Joint Operating Base may be comprised of more than 40% non-RMA members, anybody in good standing can nominate a member for an award, the Issuing Authority for all members of the RMA will be there branch representative responsible for there awards and promotions.
