| Re: | Establishment of the Office of the Lord Chancellor, and Sunsetting of the Office of the Judge Advocate General (Admiralty Order 2307-10) |
While the Judge Advocate General has always been TRMN’s legal advisor, the office was constituted and has been situated within the Office of the First Lord of the Admiralty. With the passage of the new bylaws, the Board of Directors decided that it would be more appropriate for TRMN’s legal advisor to report directly to them.
As such, the Office of the Judge Advocate General under the First Lord of the Admiralty is closed. In its place, the Office of the Lord Chancellor is opened.
The Lord Chancellor is a non-voting member of the Board of Directors, reports to the Board, and serves as TRMN’s legal advisor. The Lord Chancellor must be a licensed attorney. If a member if the one of the military themed branches, upon appointment they will be promoted to their branch’s F-4 equivalent and then placed on the retired list for the duration of their service in the position. If a Civilian, they will be appointed to C-22 rank.
The Lord Chancellor may appoint two deputies: Deputy Chancellor, and Director of Ombudsman. The Lord Chancellor is authorized to appoint these positions up to the rank of F-2.
All current documents which refer to the duties, responsibilities, or roles of the Judge Advocate General shall be taken to refer to the Lord Chancellor.
This order is issued with an effective date of 01 July 2023.
In Honour of the Queen!
