PD-SC-1010

1. Background

  • a. The intent behind the Aerospace Wings is to foster and encourage interest in flight among the members of TRMN. The primary aim is to develop an interest in real-world flight and piloting, but for those who have the interest but otherwise lack the ability, there are grades for simulation and courses. It is CRUCIAL to understand that award of these wings do NOT in any way imply real-world qualifications under FAA or other national flight regulatory bodies.
  • b. With one exception, each grade and class of Aerospace wings is available in gold for officers and silver for enlisted. The designs of each grade are otherwise identical.
  • c. To be awarded the appropriate wings all requirements as listed below must be verified by BuTrain. The BuTrain Awards Office will develop a mechanism for TRMN members to apply for their wings. The office will announce completions on a monthly basis.

2. Course Work

  • a. All coursework will be completed directly through or in conjunction with BuTrain.
  • b. Upon completion of external courses from AOPA, a BuTrain instructor will verify completion and will record the completion in Medusa.

3. Other External Requirements

  • a. To meet all other wings requirements, the TRMN member will need to submit to the BuTrain Awards Office proof of completion.
  • b. The BuTrain Awards Office will develop a mechanism for TRMN members to submit this additional information.

4. SOLO AEROSPACE WINGS

  • a. Solo Aerospace Wings are awarded to officers and enlisted alike.
