Re: Protocol for Visiting Dignitaries (Admiralty Order 1602-05)

With the publication of this Order, the following will be in effect:

Visiting Dignitaries are to be properly announced when arriving at a Convention Party room, or at any occasion where such an introduction would be appropriate, such as at a Chapter Meeting, Awards Ceremony, or similar event.

A Visiting Dignitary is defined, as per this order, as any member of another Fan Organization attending a TRMN event.

The Master-At-Arms is defined as the Senior Enlisted member assigned by the Officer of the Deck to act as Bosun of the space the event is taking place in.

For visiting Enlisted, they are to be introduced to the Senior Enlisted present by the second most Senior Enlisted present, or Officer of the Deck if only one Enlisted TRMN member is present, by their name and rating. For example, "Senior Chief, may I introduce Chief Missile Technician Snuffy, of the Battlestar Cylon’s Bane, CCA."

For visiting Officers of Commanders Rank or below, they are to be introduced by the Master-At-Arms, or Officer of the Deck if no Master-At-Arms is present, by their rank, position, chapter or unit, and organization. For example, "Introducing Lieutenant Commander John Smith, Chief Engineering Officer, USS Starship, 1701st."

For visiting Officers of Captains Rank of higher, they are to be introduced by the Master-At-Arms, or Officer of the Deck if no Master-At-Arms is present, by the title, The Honourable, their rank, position, chapter or unit, and organization. For example, "Introducing the Honourable Admiral Kendal Ozzel, Commanding Officer, Death Squadron, 501st."

For visiting Civilians not identified as Diplomats, or of Ministerial rank, or of a Peerage title, they are to be introduced by the Master-At-Arms, or Officer of the Deck if no Master-At-Arms is present, by their title (if they have one), and organization. For example, "Introducing Teegan, the Doctor’s Companion, The Doctor Who Appreciation Society."

For visiting Civilians identified as Diplomats, or of Ministerial rank, but not of a Peerage title, they are to be introduced by the Master-At-Arms, or Officer of the Deck if no Master-At-Arms is present, by their title, and organization. For example, "Introducing Councilman Gaius Baltar, of Aerilon, CDF."

For visiting Civilians identified as holding a Peerage title, they are to be introduced by the Master-At-Arms, or Officer of the Deck if no Master-At-Arms is present, by their title, and organization. For example, "Introducing His Serene Highness, Prince Bail Organa of Alderaan, Rebel Legion."

For Visiting Dignitaries identified as holding multiple titles, they are to be introduced by the Master-At-Arms, or Officer of the Deck if no Master-At-Arms is present, by an appropriate combination of the above methods. For example, "Introducing Lady Stephanie Long, Countess of Travis, Commander, HMS Spectre, BatRon39."

In any case where it is unclear how the Visiting Dignitary is to be introduced, the Master-At-Arms, or the Officer of the Deck if no Mater-At-Arms is present, will inquire with the Visiting Dignitary as to their preferred form of address.

While these rules definitely apply to those organizations where we have a diplomatic presence, BatRon 39, The Colonial-Cylon Alliance, the 1701st, Klingon Assault Groups, Fleet 31, the Rebel Legion, the 501st, the Mandaloran Mercs, and Starfleet Omega, they also apply as a courtesy to any other group or individual at a TRMN even who wishes to partake in our pomp and circumstance.

In Honour of the Queen!
