Re: RMN Aerospace Wings (Admiralty Order 1508-01)

As of the publication of this Order, the following is effective:

One of the goals of The Royal Manticoran Navy (TRMN) is to promote Aerospace Education. To that end, this Admiralty Order deals primarily with those who are real world pilots or have some interest in becoming pilots. It also has a simulator component, but the simulator must be able to log your flight time.

An online account at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) is required for some of the Aerospace wings below. These accounts are free. Membership in the AOPA is not required.

These various wings will all be available in Gold for Officers and Silver for Enlisted.

Additionally, these wings will be available in three tiers, Basic (Basic Badge), Senior (Basic Badge with a Star above it), and Master (Senior Badge with a Wreath around the Star).

For those members of TRMN who are actual certified pilots, upon verification of your pilots license and rating (Private, Instrument, Commercial), you will be eligible to acquire the RMN Aerospace Wings from the Office of the First Lord of the Admiralty.

Note: The issuance of TRMN Aerospace wings of any type does not qualify you as a pilot under the regulations of the FAA or any other national or international aeronautics agencies. Skill in observation, navigation, or simulated flight are not a replacement for a legal pilot's license and should not be treated as such.

RMN AEROSPACE WINGS:

These wings will be issued for the completion of actual pilot qualifications as follows:

RMN Basic Aerospace Wings – Completion of Private Pilot Certificate. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty if no Astro Control Officer is in place. These wings will also be awarded for the completion of a Sport and Recreational Pilot Certification, however, to advance to the next level, you must have a full Private Pilot Certificate.

RMN Senior Aerospace Wings – Completion of Instrument Rating and 100 hours of total flight time, or completion of 500 hours of total flight time as a Private Pilot. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN Master Aerospace Wings – Completion of Commercial Pilot Certificate and 200 hours of total flight time, or completion of 1,000 hours of total flight time as a Private Pilot, or completion of 500 hours of total flight time as an Instrument Rated Pilot. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

For those members of TRMN who are not actual certified pilots, you may be eligible for any of the following Wings, if you meet the qualification criteria.

RMN NAVIGATOR WINGS:

These wings will be issued for the completion of the following:

RMN Basic Navigator Wings – Completion of AOPA Pinch Hitter Online Course, AOPA Say It Right: Mastering Radio Communications Course, AOPA A Pilot’s Guide to Flight Services Course, AOPA Runway Safety Course, and 60 minutes of total flight time as a passenger of a Private Pilot, or a Discovery Flight where you control the plane for at least 15 minutes, or 30 minutes of total solo flight time as a Student Pilot. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN Senior Navigator Wings – Completion of AOPA GPS for VFR Operations Course, AOPA ADS-B for General Aviation: The Basics Course, AOPA Airport Watch General Aviation Security Course, AOPA VFR GPS Guide: Garmin 430/530 Course, AOPA Sky Spotter: PIREPS Made Easy Course, AOPA IFR Insights: Regulations Course. AOPA Single-Pilot IFR Course, and 120 minutes of total flight time as a passenger of a Private Pilot, or 60 minutes of total solo flight time as a Student Pilot. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN Master Navigator Wings – Completion of AOPA IFR Insights: Charts Course, AOPA IFR Insights: Cockpit Weather Course, AOPA GPS for IFR Operations Course, AOPA IFR Chart Challenge: ILS Approach Course, AOPA IFR Chart Challenge: RNAV Approach Course, AOPA IFR Chart Challenge: VOR Approach Course, AOPA Unmanned Aircraft Course, AOPA ASI Flight Risk Evaluator Course, and 180 minutes of total flight time as a passenger of a Private Pilot, or 90 minutes of total solo flight time as a Student Pilot. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN OBSERVERS WINGS:

These wings will be issued for the completion of the following:

RMN Basic Observer Wings – Completion of AOPA Pinch Hitter Online Course, AOPA Say It Right: Mastering Radio Communications Course. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN Senior Observer Wings – Completion of AOPA Weather Wise: Thunderstorms and ATC Course, AOPA Weather Wise: Ceiling and Visibility Course, AOPA Airport Watch General Aviation Security Course, AOPA Sky Spotter: PIREPS Made Easy Course, and 60 minutes of total flight time as a passenger of a Private Pilot, or 30 minutes of total solo flight time as a Student Pilot. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN Master Observer Wings – Completion of AOPA Weather Wise: Precipitation and Icing Course, AOPA Weather Wise: Air Masses and Fronts Course, AOPA Weather Wise: VFR into IMC Course, AOPA Unmanned Aircraft Course, AOPA Public Benefit Flying: Balancing Safety and Compassion Course, AOPA 60 Minutes to Preserve Your Airport Course, and 120 minutes of total flight time as a passenger of a Private Pilot, or 60 minutes of total solo flight time as a Student Pilot. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN SIMULATOR WINGS:

These wings will be issued for various qualifications on Flight Simulators that log your flight time, as follows:

RMN Basic Simulator Wings – 60 hours of simulated flight, and completion of KR1MA-RMAT-30A. This must be verified by the appropriate party at King William Military Academy and a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN Senior Simulator Wings – 120 hours of simulated flight, and completion of KR1MA-RMAT-31A. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

RMN Master Simulator Wings – 240 hours of simulated flight, and completion of KR1MA-RMAT-32A, and a Discovery Flight where you control the plane for at least 15 minutes. This must be verified by a TRMN Astro Control Officer or by the First Lord of the Admiralty’s Staff Liaison Officer if no Astro Control Officer is in place.

Currently, these are not authorized for wear on official TRMN uniforms, but are more designed to show TRMN’s continued support for Aerospace programs, and may be worn on unofficial TRMN uniforms.

Note: TRMN will maintain a list of pilots with Aerospace wings for informational purposes only. While TRMN will provide a list of member pilots in an area it is the member's responsibility to verify with the FAA that the pilot's license is in good order and no actions have been taken against it. All license information is self-reported and verified against the FAA database, and it is the responsibility of member pilots to report any adverse action against their license.

Any questions on this Admiralty Order should be addressed to the Office of the First Lord of the Admiralty as the Authority for this topic.
