HMS Hexapuma (CA-412) is a Saganami-C-class Heavy Cruiser within Second Fleet. Commanded by CAPTJG Dame Ann Schottler, Hexapuma claims Rockford, IL as her charter city.

History

First commissioned in February of 2014 under Captain (Junior Grade) Jimmy Nelson, Hexapuma began her life in Second Fleet as an independent patrol out of Louisville, KY[1] A quick-growing unit, her first pinnace, the Condor-class Hexapuma-01, launched in early November of that year to patrol O'Fallon, IL.[2]

In late August of 2015, Hexapuma was joined by HMS Saberpike in the formation of Cruiser Division 711, expanding her connections further.[3] However, in May, 2016, Hexapuma-01 was returned to the boat bay, bringing their crew back into the fold.[4] By the end of 2017, CruDiv 711 was brought under the umbrella of the newly-formed Task Force 22 as an entire subunit.[5]

By early January, 2021, command shifted to then-CAPTJG Kerry Kuhn[6] Under her command, Hexapuma has maintained an ongoing tradition of Worldbuilding sessions, book discussions, and especially convention attendance. Hexapuma 's reassignment to TG22.4 has not dampened this enthusiasm; in fact, it appears to have expanded it. Service alongside HMS Demon, HMS Vixen, and HMS Interloper (SD-460) (née HMS Havoc) has expanded the borders of contact for Hexapuma 's crew[7], with HMS Galahad being added to the Task Group later; the convention most favoured by her crew is Marcon in Ohio, but following closely are Capricon and Windycon in the Chicago area.

  • Royal Meritorious Unit Citation: Awarded 13 May 2022, by order of the Gryphon Fleet CO and with the recommendation and support of the IAN Groβadmiral der Flotte: "In honor of their performance in the Imperial Andermani Navy Course Challenge, leading the total points not only in Second Fleet, but indeed leading the entire Royal Manticoran Navy in points... [HMS Hexapuma is awarded] the Royal Meritorious Unit Citation."[9]
  • Royal Meritorious Unit Citation: Awarded 19 March 2023, by order of the Third Space Lord, for "substantial contributions to their local community, as well as providing substantial presence in their local convention circuit. Their efforts shed a positive light on TRMN as an org, and their Commanding Officer, Captain Senior Grade Kerry Kuhn should be proud of their efforts over CY 2022."[10]
