==History==
Commissioned in June of 2013, ''Alchemist'' got her start as many vessels in Third Fleet did - crewed by officers and ratings trained aboard {{hms|Chaos|DD-57}}. The initial commission was served under the command of Captain (j.g.) Daniel Stephenson, and as was custom at the time, was assigned to the Third Fleet, alongside ''Chaos''; the difference being, ''Alchemist'' was based out of Savannah, Georgia.<ref name="BSD130604">[[BuShips Directive 1306-04]]</ref> In November of 2016, however, ''Alchemist'' was decommissioend, due to a lack of officers to fill out the command staff. <ref name="BSD161121">[[BuShips Directive 1611-21]]</ref>
