Order Text

Date: 12 July 2022

To: All Officers and Enlisted in the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps and Royal Manticoran Marine Corps Academy Faculty and Staff and all Allied Forces
From: Major General William Farley, RMMCTC Commandant
Re: Establishment of Royal Manticoran Marine Corp Honor Societies

By my hand, and by the authority of the Sovereign, Queen of Manticore, Elizabeth III, I hereby establish two Honor Societies and two honorary MARDETs for those who complete Royal Manticoran Marine Corps courses from the Royal Manticoran Marine Corps Academy:

Membership in the Iris Babcock Honor Society is offered to those of the Grand Alliance who have completed all of the RMMC Enlisted Courses (SIA-RMMC-0001 through SIA-RMMC-0006) and all of the RMMC Warrant Officer Courses (SIA-RMMC-0011 through SIA-RMMC-0013). The Society is named in honor of a character from David Weber’s Honor Harrington series, first appearing in The Honor of the Queen as Sergeant Major of HMS Fearless’ Marine detachment and eventually Command Sergeant Major at Saganami Island. There are four levels to the Iris Babcock Society, depending on the level of academic performance by the student in these courses.

Membership in the Andrew Knipe Honor Society is offered to those of the Grand Alliance who have completed all the RMMC Officer Courses (SIA-RMMC-0101 through SIA-RMMC-0106 plus SIA-RMMC-0113 and SIA-RMMC-0115). The Society is named in honor of the first Commandant of the RMMC Training Command. There are four levels to the Andrew Knipe Honor Society, depending on the level of academic performance by the student in these courses (the highest two levels also require the completion of all four RMMC War College courses).

MARDET Perficio is an honorary detachment to recognize those TRMN members who have completed the available RMMCTC Technical Specialties College in the A, C and D levels. The MARDET is entirely honorary and does not otherwise grant rank or billet in the RMMC.

MARDET Gibraltar is an honorary detachment to recognize those TRMN members who have completed the all available RMMCTC Courses. There is a second level for TRMN members who complete all RMMCTC Courses and a Warrant project for each specialty. The MARDET is entirely honorary and does not otherwise grant rank or billet in the RMMC. Becoming a member of this Detachment is to recognize the long and continuous effort needed to achieve these milestones. It is named after the Royal Marines defense of Gibraltar during the siege from 24 June 1779 – 7 February 1783.

In Honor of the Queen!
