BuShips Directive 1912-04 was issued on 20 December 2019 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive appoints a new Commanding Officer and Executive Officer for HMS Gryphon (SD-153).

Re: Change of Command, HMS Gryphon (SD-153) (BuShips Directive 1912-04)


Commander Swanson:

You are hereby directed and required to proceed aboard HMS Gryphon (SD-153), there to take upon yourself the duties and responsibilities of Commanding Officer, relieving Captain Joseph Kaplan, RHN, in service to the Crown. Fail not in this charge at your peril.

The following personnel are assigned to your command, HMS Gryphon (SD-153), in the defined capacities:

Based upon the requirements of the service for your new billet, you are hereby breveted to the rank of CAPTAIN(JG), RMN.

The above directive is effective on this date, 20 December 2019.

The Bureau of Ships wishes to express appreciation and thanks to Captain Kaplan, and Commander Swanson, for their service as Commanding Officer and Executive Officer respectively aboard Gryphon. We wish Captain Kaplan all success in his future endeavors and wish Captain(JG) Swanson fair winds and following seas as she starts a new chapter as Gryphon’s Commanding Officer.
