BuShips Directive 1501-01 was issued on 12 January 2015 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. It commissions HMS Yamamoto Date (DD-540).

My fellow Members of the Grand Alliance,
Effective as of 0001 Hours (EST) on January 12, 2015, it is my pleasure to announce the commissioning of HMS Yamamoto Date (DD-540), under the command of Lt. Commander Christa Brolley. This is a Roland-class Destroyer and is assigned to the First Fleet, based in Falls Church, VA.
As of the date of Commissioning, the following personnel are assigned to HMS Yamamoto Date (DD-540):
- Lieutenant Commander Christa Brolley (assigned as CO of HMS Yamamoto Date)
- Lieutenant, senior grade Hal Vaughan (assigned as XO of HMS Yamamoto Date)
- Chief Petty Officer Patrick Bunch (assigned as Bosun of HMS Yamamoto Date)
