HMS Gallant was a Valiant-class Light Cruiser within Third Fleet. Commanded by [[]] , Gallant claimed Asheville, NC as her charter city.

History

HMS Gallant initially commissioned under then-Commander Sherman Day in April of 2015 based out of Michigan City, IN., she was initially assigned to Second Fleet as an upgrade from HMS Hotspur, which was returned to Active Reserve at this time.<ref name="BuShips Directive 1504-07">BuShips Directive 1504-07</ref> Continuing Hotspur's legacy of not being content to rest upon one's laurels, the crew of Gallant led the ship to become a founding member of Light Cruiser Division 651 in Third Fleet, that August: Gallant became the flagship for the division, joined therein by HMS Odin and HMS Apollo.<ref name="ND15AU05">Naval Directive 15AU-05</ref> This was not to last, however, as the crews of Gallant and Odin merged in March of 2016, commissioning HMS Demon and returning both light cruisers to the Active Reserve.<ref name="BuShips Directive 1603-11">BuShips Directive 1603-11</ref>

Gallant recommissioned in Third Fleet in July of 2017 under Commander Aiden Alexander, returning HMS Juno to Active Reserve.<ref name="BSD170705">BuShips Directive 1707-05</ref> Keeping with the tradition of the hull, she was assigned to Task Group 32.2 scant days later.<ref name="ND17JUL03">Naval Directive 17JUL-03</ref> Sadly, in late March of 2020, Gallant decommissioned, returning once more to the Active Reserve.<ref name="BuShips Directive 2004-05">BuShips Directive 2004-05</ref>
