HMS Eardsidh Kamerling (CL-717) (pronounced “EAR-she KAM-erl-ing”) was launched 24 June 2015 under the command of CDR Terry Banta [1], with support from HMS Truculent (BC-593), and assigned to Tenth Fleet, BatCruRon 96. Eardsidh Kamerling was later assigned to BatCruDiv 962, which was given orders to stand down on 28 April 2019. In 2018, Kamerling participated at RadCon 6, her first official convention. The Command Triad at the time was was comprised of CDR Terry Banta, LCDR Alan Schemer-Kohrn RMN, and Bosun CPO Ed Lund.

In March 2016, command was transferred to CDR Edward Newton, RMN[2]. LCDR Alan Schemer-Kohrn continued as Executive Officer, with Chief Gunner’s Mate Doug Staudt, RMN assuming the duties of Bosun[3].

On 15 January 2018, the Marine Detachment or “MARDET Earsidh Kamerling” was assigned to Lynx Regiment, under the command of MSGT Shawn Merrow RMMC and CPL Kenneth Merrow RMMC.

More command changes occurred in 2020 and 2021; in February of 2020, LCDR William Karnesky became Executive Officer,[4] while CDR Alan Schmer-Kohm became Commanding Officer in March.[5] In July of 2021, Karnesky was further elevated to take command of Eardsidh Kamerling, with LCDR Matthew Foster taking up the new CO's former billet of Executive Officer.[6]
