Re: Peerage Award (Admiralty Order 1005-01)

Award Name (by Precedence Issued For Groups
Navy Commendation Decoration This award is a way to recognize a member of your unit, down to the Ship / Company Level, for
meritorious service to the unit. This can be anything that makes the member stand out, although
taking courses through the Academy is expressly prohibited as a basis for this award. As this
award is designed to show that the recipient works hard and performs their duties to a level of
excellence, Civilians serving onboard ship in any well defined role are also eligible.

Issued by:
Unit Leaders down
to Ship or Company
Frequency:
As needed;
One per member per
command level per year
List of Honor Citation This award is granted to a ship which has gone above and beyond as a whole unit to achieve a
special goal. Raising a large sum of money for charity, collecting a large number of toys for
Toys-For-Tots, fielding a team of walkers for a cancer walk would all be good examples. When
a warship’s distinctions get its name added to the List of Honor, all crew members who served
in the action that achieved this distinction get this citation. It is worn on the right hand side of
the uniform.

Royal Unit Citation for Gallantry Awarded for units that rise above and beyond the call of duty by displaying gallantry,
determination and espirit de corps in their activities. All crew serving when this distinction
was achieved get this citation. It is worn on the right hand side of the uniform.

Royal Meritorious Unit Citation This citation is awarded to one Unit in each group for performance above and beyond as
compared to the other Units in that group. As an example, a Squadron Commander can
award this to one of the ships under their command. A Task Group Commander can then
single out a Squadron for this Award. This would work the same way with the RMMC where
a Battalion Commander can give this to one of his MSGs, and a Regimental Commander to
one of his Battalions.

Fleet Excellence Award This Award is issued once per year to the Fleet which most demonstrates their excellence
compared to the other Fleets. A Fleet can be as large as a full Fleet or as small as a
Squadron. This is awarded based on the efforts of the entire Fleet and not just the efforts of
one person. An example would be, everyone in the Fleet completing all the classes at
Saganami Island. Just one person alone completing them would not qualify.

Prisoner of War Medal This Medal is given to those who dedicate time to another organization. It is given to
members of The Royal Manticoran Navy for participation in events with other Science
Fiction oriented fan organizations, to include groups such as Maquis Forces International,
STARFLEET International, Colonial Defense Forces, etc. If the RMN Member is also a
member of the other organization, they *must* wear a distinctive RMN item (RMN Patch,
RMN Awards, RMN Rank) with their other uniform to qualify as a “Prisoner of War”.
Showing up to a meeting in your CDF uniform with your RMN Ship Patch would qualify.

Silesian Anti-Piracy Campaign Medal This award is given to Members who have undertaken extreme or lengthy travel on behalf
of the TRMN. The two important criteria are “extreme or lengthy” and “on behalf of the
TRMN.” The former requires a judgment call by the Unit Commander. A possible standard
might be 5 hours travel time, for example. The latter is more exact: Taking a long road trip
to attend a convention with the other members of your chapter, for example, does not qualify.
Doing so because you are going to be presenting a class , a demonstration or manning a
recruiting table would qualify.

Masadan Occupation Medal This award is given to Members for participation on behalf of The Royal Manticoran Navy
at a function of another fan organization, such as the annual STARFLEET International
Conference or a Regional Summit. The key word here is participation, not attendance.
The Member must have done more than simply attend (i.e., served on a panel, worked
on the Security detail, etc.) Likewise, the Member must have attended in their TRMN
persona for the entire time.

Good Conduct Medal This award is given for three consecutive years of membership in good standing as a member
of either the RMN, RMMC, RMA or GSN. Once the award is issued, the five-year clock resets.
In other words, a member who joined 2010 will receive a GCM for the period 2010 to 2015.
He will receive his next one in 2020. He may not request one in 2016 for the period 2011 to
2016, because the clock “reset” in 2015. A check of the members personnel file to ensure no
offenses or misconduct will be conducted before issuance.
