Re: | Sponsorship for items from Bureau of Supply (Supply Directive 2009-02) |
Any member may offer to sponsor an item for production at the Bureau of Supply. The idea of this is that member(s) can contribute the capital costs of getting an item into the store – this means it can be done much faster than waiting for BuSup funds would normally allow.
Key areas to note about this process:
- Only authorised uniform items, or approved swag items can be made via this process. The Seventh Space Lord has final say as to whether BuSup is willing to accept sponsorship of any item.
- Sponsorship is not a pre-order system. Members are donating the capital costs for BuSup to have the item created and then sold in the store. Members are not purchasing the whole run for themselves.
- More than one member can contribute to the total amount to make it easier to reach. However, for ease of administration one member will be the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) with BuSup.
- The SPOC will be offered up to two of the finished item as a reward, they can keep or distribute them as they see fit. They may also decline to accept the item to help BuSup generate more revenue for future products.
- If multiple people contribute no additional reward items are offered.
- All donations are eligible for the Order of Queen Elizabeth recognition. The SPOC must supply a list of contributors to BuSup. After the money has been sent to BuSup, all donations will be verified and passed to the office of the OQE by BuSup.
The Process:
- Identify the item you wish to sponsor. This will be either a new swag item, or a uniform item. Prepare a description of the item and send it to sponsor@busup.trmn.org to request a price quote. For swag items, if you know of a supplier you are welcome to include it, but BuSup is under no obligation to use this supplier or keep to the exact suggested design for swag items.
- BuSup will then seek a quote from one of our suppliers for the item, this will include any costs in having the item made and delivered to us, including shipping and custom tariffs.
- The quote will be sent to the SPOC by our Sponsorship Manager. If any changes have been made to the suggested design, these will be explained at this stage.
- The SPOC can either decline (e.g. if the amount is too high) or go about collecting the money. The method and responsibility for collecting the funds sits solely with the SPOC.
- Once funds are gathered, the SPOC will contact the Sponsorship Manager to let them know., The Sponsorship Manager will give details of how to send the money to BuSup. A list of contributing members will also be requested for OQE purposes at this time.
- The Sponsorship Manager will ensure the funds are verified, and that the item added to the next factory order. Contributions will be verified and passed to the OQE office.
- The Sponsorship Manager will confirm how many, if any, of the reward items the SPOC wishes to claim. The SPOC will need to supply a valid shipping address, if applicable. This will be recorded to be sent out when the item arrives in the store.
