BuShips Directive 1603-11 was issued on 31 March 2016 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive commissions HMS Demon (CLAC-62).

Re: Commissioning of HMS Demon (CLAC-62)


Attention to Orders:

Effective as of 0001 Hours on March 31, 2016, by the order of the Third Space Lord, ADM Lord Sir John Roberts, KDE, SC, Earl New Mecklenberg, it is my pleasure and privilege to announce the commissioning of HMS Demon (CLAC-62). This is a Hydra-class LAC Carrier and is assigned to the Second Fleet (Oak Forest, IL).

The following Naval personnel are hereby transferred and permanently assigned to HMS Demon (CLAC-62):

  • CAPTJG Sherman Day (and assigned as CO of HMS Demon)
  • CDR Geoff Strayer (and assigned as XO of HMS Demon)

The following brevets are hereby authorized:

NOTE The unusual brevets for Captains Day and Strayer are due to the unique nature of this vessel’s Commissioning, and is not expected to be repeated in the future outside of similarly rare circumstances, and then only with the approval of the First Lord of the Admiralty.

HMS Gallant (CL-315) and HMS Odin (CL-101) are hereby ordered to be transferred to the Reserve Fleet.
