Commanded by Major General Sir Sir Jackie Stuard, RMMC, the force's area of operations includes the American states of Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma,South Dakota and Texas.

The Sixth Expeditionary Force was established in 2022 with FORCECOM Order 2207-E from Marine Forces Command, ordering MGEN Stuard to assume command of the force.
