BuShips Directive 1802-03 was issued 12 February 2018 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive appoints a new CO for the HMS Reliant (BC-401).

You are hereby directed and required to proceed aboard HMS Reliant (BC-401), there to take upon yourself the duties and responsibilities of Commanding Officer, in service to the Crown. Fail not in this charge at your peril.
Based upon the needs of the service, for this billet you are hereby breveted to the rank of CAPTAIN (JG), RMN.
The following personnel are assigned to your command in the defined capacities:
- LCDR Thom E. Shartle, RMN (RMN-0627-12), is assigned as EXECUTIVE OFFICER, relieving LTSG Michael A. Lythgoe, RMN. Lieutenant Commander Shartle is hereby breveted to the rank of COMMANDER, RMN. - PO3 Joseph Daly III, RMN (RMN-1680-15), is assigned as SHIP’S BOSUN. Petty Officer Daly is hereby breveted to the rank of CHIEF PETTY OFFICER, RMN.
The above directive is effective 12 February 2018.
