Chief of Staff for a Fleet or Army

Job Purpose

  • The Chief of Staff is the coordinator of the <Fleet/Service> Staff
  • The Chief of Staff works behind the scenes to solve problems, mediate disputes, and deal with issues before they are brought to the Commanding Officer

Duties

  1. Facilitate staff meetings as requested by the Commanding Officer.
  2. Acts as point of contact between the staff and the Commanding Officer.
  3. Direct all administrative functions for the Commanding Officer.
  4. As required, advertise staff openings, review applications, and coordinate staff approval.
  5. Coordinate with Chiefs of Staff from other fleets/army on projects that overlap.
  6. Develop formats for all records and delegate maintenance of records.
  7. Develop and track all unit rosters and delegate maintenance of rosters.
  8. Maintain the Fleet/Army calendar for the upcoming month/quarter/year.
  9. Oversee promotion and award submissions for CO's action.
  10. Join and monitor Discord, Facebook Groups and chats, and all related Forums.
  11. Regularly respond to staff communications (email, Discord or messenger), within 24 hours, if possible.

Skills

  1. Ability to effect changes quickly in an efficient and positive manner.
  2. Able to lead meetings and drive topics to completion.
  3. Ability to resolve conflicts and problems and deal with sensitive situations.
  4. Can-do attitude, responsive to communications & correspondence.
  5. Familiarity with TRMN Forums, Discord, Facebook, G Suite, and other information sources

Qualifications

  1. Be a member in good standing in TRMN, attached to XX Fleet/Service
  2. Hold a minimum rank of O-5 (Commander) or be eligible for promotion by having completed the required coursework.
  3. Be compliant with the ""two-hat"" rule upon taking this position.
  4. Commit to hold this position for a minimum of 6 months.
  5. Pass the TRMN Background Check.
