Legion of Military Merit
The Legion of Military Merit is a discontinued Grayson award used by The Royal Manticoran Navy: The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association, Inc. (TRMN) from 2010 to 2013.
The canon awards for the Grayson Space Navy were still being devised by BuNine in 2010 when provided to First Lord of the Admiralty Martin Lessem. The Legion was at that point part of the awards list so Lessem included it in Admiralty Order 1006-04, Admiralty Order 1006-05 and Admiralty Order 1102-04.
Description of the award as given in Admiralty Order 1006-05:
This order is awarded for distinguished service in the armed forces. The Protector, through the High Admiral of the Grayson Space Navy, accepts members into the order based on the Advice of the Senior Officers. The three awardable classes with post nominal letters are Commander (MMC), Officer (MMO) and Member (MMM). This order is not hereditary. For each subsequent award, the member moves up one class. This order does not confer a prefix. The order level is denoted with Gold, Silver or Bronze crossed sabers.
The Legion of Military Merit was awarded to some TRMN members before 2013. In 2013, House of Steel, The Honorverse Companion was published and included the final version of the canon list of Grayson awards. The Legion of Military Merit was not included, and so has been discontinued as an award issued to TRMN members.
