BuShips Directive 1706-01 was issued 10 June 2017 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. This directive re-commissions HMS Roland.

Attention to Orders:
Effective as of 0001 Hours on 10 June 2017, it is my pleasure and privilege to announce the recommissioning of HMS Roland, (DD-476). This is a Roland class Destroyer and is assigned to the Second Fleet (Toledo, Ohio, USA).
The following personnel are hereby transferred and permanently assigned to HMS Roland, DD-476:
- LCDR Jeffry M. Ellis (assigned as CO)
- S1C Paul Sparks (assigned as XO)
- S2C Vicky Pontious (assigned as Bosun)
- CPO Kate Shankie
- PO3 Steve Pontious
- S2C Sebastian Payne
- S3C Ron Anderson
- S3C Richard Sensale
- S3C Robert Lucius, GSN
- S3C Tanya Ellis
The following brevets are hereby authorized:
- Paul Sparks to LIEUTENANT SG, RMN
- Vicky Pontious to CHIEF PETTY OFFICER, RMN
Subsequent to this recommissioning, HMLAC Caleb (LAC-013) shall be transferred to the Active Fleet Reserves, following inspection and any repairs deemed necessary. This vessel shall be made available for recommissioning at a later date.
