Marine Detachments are marines who are assigned on board RMN ships. Once a sufficient number of RMMC members are on board, they can form a MarDet. The Echelon Breakdown is as follows, please see CD 02-1903 for more details:

Minimum Command Ranks
Minimum command ranks for units in the RMMC are outlined below.
- Section – E-4 (Corporal)
- Squad – E-5 (Platoon Sergeant)
- Platoon, any type – O-1 or O-2 (2nd Lieutenant or 1st Lieutenant)
- Company, any type – O-3 (Captain)
- Battalion – O-4 (Major)
- Regiment – O-6 (Colonel)
- Brigade – F-1 (Brigadier General)
- Expeditionary Force – F-2 (Major General
- Corps – F-3 Lieutenant General)
