BuShips Directive 1203-01
BuShips Directive 1203-01 was issued 09 March 2012 under the authority of the Third Space Lord. It commissions HM Pinnace Merlin-02, which eventually became HMS Gryphon.

My fellow Manticorans,
Effective as of 0001 Hours on March 9, 2012, it is my pleasure to announce the commissioning of the Pinnace Merlin-02. This is a Pinnace under the Command of Lieutenant (j.g.) James Nelson and is assigned to the HMS Merlin and Second Fleet.
The crew of this ship consists of:
- Derek Sauls (breveted to the rank of Ensign and assigned a XO)
- Spacer 3rd Class James Webb
- Rear Admiral of the Red Antonio Lopes (didn’t know Pinnaces had Flag Decks!)
They will be recruiting additional members to form a full crew for a larger vessel.
