* We have [[:Category:Portals]], though they need a little sprucing up.

And do the people being asked know that is their job?

TASKS

  • What else does Category:Wiki Maintenance need?
  • Get the GovTree and DocTree stuff deployed.
  • Get list of active chapters and develop plan for that (edit: got it). We need to focus on the people who are here.
    • Start on a Help Page for standing up a Chapter in the Wiki.
  • Next Meeting Prep:
    • Ship and Class list templates.

New Member Page

For now, I am going to just drop a list of things here that are candidates for inclusion. I'll put them in order and tidy up later:

  • List of abbreviations
  • BuTrain:Quick Start Guide
  • We have Category:Portals, though they need a little sprucing up.
    • Something about how to nominate someone for an award would be great. I couldn't begin to tell you the process. Edit: Ah, that is at TRMN.org. So link that.
    • Manuals needs some links to TRMN.org downloads, too.
  • Explain about MEDUSA: you can't do much without it.
  • TRMN Contact List is already on the front page. New Members: Point them specifically to Member Services?
  • Bolthole. That is another way to get help if, for instance, you can't get into MEDUSA or the Forums or whatever. And there is NOTHING in the intro courses about it.
  • TRMN.org because we should not assume they found that site first.
  • WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHEPHERDING AND MENTORING NEW MEMBERS? If a new member has a question and cannot ask their Chapter Command Triad (because they don't have one, in many cases), what is their Point of Contact? BuPlan is supposed to be in charge of Recruitment, BuPers is in charge of Members.... I know too well the pain of getting passed around like a hot rock--and I finally just gave up and joined a chapter based in Hawaii. Who are they supposed to ask? And do the people being asked know that is their job?
