Power Technician (abbrev PT) is an enlisted technical specialty or rating utilized by the Royal Manticoran Navy.

Power Technicians perform the work necessary for power distribution throughout the ship. This includes monitoring and repairing ship's fusion reactors and other power supply equipment. Power Technicians fall under the Propulsion Group within the Engineering Department.[1]

Historical Overview

The closest real-world parallels are the USN's Electrician's Mate (EM), the Royal Navy's Engineering Technician[2] (ET), or the Royal Canadian Navy's Electrical Technician[3] (ETECH). By whatever name, these occupations are concerned with the generation of electrical power, as well as conversion to other forms (e.g., 120 Vac, 24 Vdc, 120 400Hz, etc.), and distribution to end-user equipment throughout a ship. They are also responsible for restoring electrical power to vital equipment in the event of battle damage.
