New Essex is a peerage land within The Royal Manticoran Navy and awarded for dedicated service to the organization. New Essex was created as a potential peerage land in Admiralty Order 0801-08 in January of 2008, making it among the oldest, and one of the original, peerage lands created for the organization. It was abbreviated with the code NE in the AO.

It was first awarded as a peerage land to Robert. W. Bulkeley, Jr. on 16 April 2011 in Admiralty Order 1104-01. Captain, j.g. Bulkeley was elevated to the peerage rank of Baron.

On 23 May 2015, New Essex went from a Barony to a County as Admiral of the Red Bulkeley was elevated to the peerage rank of Earl.

On 27 May 2017, the land became inactive, when Earl New Essex was recreated as Duke Mountain View. It remained inactive for five months.

On 28 October 2017, the land was reinstated as a Barony, as Rear Admiral of the Green Diane Bulkeley became the second person to hold land as an award. She was the first Baroness and first Countess New Essex by virtue of marriage to the first Baron (Robert Bulkeley). As of the award to Baroness, she also became the Second Baroness New Essex.
