HMS Roland is a Roland-class Destroyer within the Active Reserves.

History

First commissioned on 23 May, 2012, Roland launched in Tenth Fleet under the command of LCDR Jack Yeager. [1] Under this crew, HMS Roland had the distinction of being the first commissioned chapter within that fleet, and for special dedication, was awarded the RMU along with the rest of TG91.1; she was assigned to said task group by Naval Directive 14JU-01 on 17 June, 2014[2] and subsequently as a part of Destroyer Division 231 within that formation[3]. Further, they grew the fleet with the launch of HM Pinnace Roland-One, which subsequently became HMS Artemis before expanding again into HMS Medusa. While active, this chapter attended and participated in FresCon. This iteration was placed into the Active Reserve on 23 August, 2016, as the chapter upgraded to the Invictus-class Superdreadnought HMS Intractable [4].

HMS Roland recommissioned on 10 June, 2017 in Second Fleet under the command of LCDR Jeffry M. Ellis, returning HMLAC Caleb (LAC-013) to the Active Reserve. This iteration was placed into the Active Reserve on 04 January, 2020. [5]
